Since we moved to Florida, my husband and I began looking for a Filipino community. My Puerto Rican husband is still amazed at how the Filipino help and supports each other. We know that many Filipino communities are there, however, we are looking near where we live, like the Filipino community we joined in Lakewood, Colorado, the "Filipino-American Community in Colorado or the FACC". Now we finally found one, the “Council for Filipino American Organization-Central Florida”, Last June 16, 2018, my husband and I attended the “Fiesta Filipina” event they’ve organized to celebrate the Philippine Independence Day. I was invited by Ms. Leilani Fontanilla when we met at the Asian Cultural Festival when I launched my business “Milaartistique” (a one-stop creative creative shoppe providing services for caricature, photography, hand-drawn design, and custom, original artworks) at Orlando Fashion Square mall. Throughout the program, I took some souvenirs photos and I want to share this with you all. But the way, for those who don’t know, every 12th of June the Filipino celebrate the Philippines Independence Day. June 12, 1898, was the day when Emilio Aguinaldo declared Philippine independence in Kawit, Cavite. Witnessed by a huge crowd, that day was the first time the Philippine flag was raised in public. Emilio Aguinaldo then became the first president of the country. So, every year, June 12 is highly celebrated in the country as well as in other countries around the world with Filipino communities. So start to take a peek at how they celebrated the 120 years of independence of the Philippines at Fiesta Filipina Event, please check out the rest of the pictures at my facebook page, www.facebook,cim/milaartistique/. Thank you for visiting my page and my blog, and soon, I’ll keep you posted!
In this photos they presented to us, one by one the various flags were used by the Katipunan secrete society during the Philippine Revolution. Flags introduced as part of the “Evolution of the Philippine Flag”.
